Issue/Introduction

PercentIdleMBinSpaceDemand is not listed in Advanced Option settings of Storage DRS settings in vSphere client.

Resolution

The "PercentIdleMBinSpaceDemand" setting will need to be added in the Advanced Options setting of Storage DRS if you do not see it currently listed when enabling SDRS. To locate the setting

  1. Log in to the vSphere Client and navigate to the Datacenter.
  2. Select your Datastore Cluster from the inventory tree.
  3. Click the Configure tab.
  4. Under "Services," select Storage DRS.
  5. Click the Edit button to open the "Edit Datastore Cluster" dialog.
  6. Navigate to the Advanced Options section to find and modify PercentIdleMBInSpaceDemand.
  7. If the setting is not there after creating a datastore with Storage DRS enabled, you will need to add "PercentIdleMBinSpaceDemand" in the option setting and set the value at 25%, in the Advanced Options.

 

Note: Any existing datastores can be added to the new datastore cluster and ensure all hosts in the cluster can see all the datastores you add to the cluster for it to work correctly.
