Issue/Introduction

  • The syslogs and the logs in Aria do not contain the user-friendly configured name from Policy UI for DNS Forwarder logs.
  • This creates difficulty while tracking the logs for a specific DNS forwarder issue, specially in large environment with multiple gateways present with DNS service configuration.

This article explains on how can we fetch the UUID of the respective DNS service which will be visible in the logs.

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

This is an expected behavior and the UUID will need to be used to track the logs.

Resolution

The UUID can be validated with the below API call:

GET https://<NSX-Manager>/policy/api/v1/dns/forwarders
