• This article explains minimum privilege required to shutdown vSAN cluster.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.x

VMware vSAN 8.x

Resolution

To provide users with minimum privileges to shutdown vSAN cluster the below can be performed:

1. Create a role with the below privileges. In the Host section, select below privileges : (vSphere Client -> Menu -> Administration -> Access Control -> Role -> New)

    

   • Maintenance

   • Modify Cluster

   • Power

2. Assign the newly created role to the required user/user groups
