Moving hosts between NSX enabled clusters within the same vCenter without uninstalling NSX

• NSX prepared clusters in vSphere
• NSX Transport Node Profile (TNP) is applied to the host cluster(s)
• Intention is to upgrade ESXi versions without uninstalling NSX from the host(s)

Environment

VMware NSX

Resolution

Please follow the steps below:

• Create a new cluster with the same Transport Node Profile (TNP) applied
• Place ESXi host(s) into vSphere Maintenance mode
• Move host to the new cluster
• Upgrade host
• Move host back to the previous cluster
