Issue/Introduction

In the Admin > Users window, when filtering for users who are Project Admins, sometimes Workspace Users are displayed in the list or I am not able to find where the user is a Project Admin.

The expected behavior is that if a User is listed with a Subscription Permission of "Project Admin", that it should be apparent where the user is a project admin, even if it is in a closed project or workspace.

Environment

Rally SaaS, Rally Anywhere Admin Windows

Cause

There are a few scenarios where a user may be filtered or described as a Project Admin, but an admin is unable to locate where the user is a Project Admin.

  • The user is a Project Admin in a Project in a closed Workspace
  • The user is a Project Admin in a Closed Project that descends from the workspace root

In both of the cases above, the Project Admin for the closed project will not be reflected in the Project Admin filter in the specific User details panel.

Locating and removing the user from the closed Project Admin will resolve the problem.

Resolution

In order to see where a user may be a Project Admin, if it cannot be found by clicking on the Project Admin filter in the User details, search the User Revision history for "Project Admin".   If the project is unknown, the workspace can be located by searching for the specific project in the Admin > Workspaces and Project window.
