Cannot access AXIS based SOAP web services

Issue/Introduction

Attempting to create a web services connection via AXIS web services is failing.  When attempting to view the AXIS content via a web browser, URL http://SDMSERVER:8080/axis/services results in a 404 error.

Environment

Release:  All releases of SDM after 17.4 RU5

Cause

AXIS Web services is removed from SDM functionality as of SDM 17.4 RU5

Resolution

AXIS web services was deprecated from Service Desk.  Previous documentation updates had indicated that the functionality would be phased out in future updates.  It is advised to update web services to use CXF web services

Additional Information

Restoration of AXIS based web services will not be considered due to the age of the platform.  The last known update to Axis 1.x was in 2006.
