Vcenter offline, main network interface wont come online

Issue/Introduction

In vCenter HA (VCHA) both the primary and secondary nodes are up and running, but neither is accessible on the management network.  Both vCenters only show a minimal amount of vCenter services running when using the service-control --status command.

Environment

vCenter 7.x

vCenter 8.x

 

Cause

A vCenter HA event occurs and the fail-over from the Primary to Secondary vCenter node does not complete successfully.

Resolution

Remove the VCHA configuration by running the command in SSH:  vcha-destroy -f   on what was the primary node previously.

Remove the old secondary node and witness appliance as they cannot be used again.
