Issue/Introduction

1. The following compatibility warning message appears when initiating cross vCenter migrations for a set of virtual machines.
   
   

   Device 'Hard Disk 1' uses a controller that is not supported. "This is not a limitation of the host in general, but of the virtual machine's configured guest OS on the selected host."

Cause

1. The error message specifically indicates that the issue lies with the guest OS on the selected host.
   
   
2. This is not a limitation of the host in general, but of the virtual machine's configured guest operating system on the selected host.

Resolution

1. If this error message appears, you can safely ignore it and proceed with the vMotion. 
   
   
2. The error message is related to the virtual machine’s configured guest OS on the selected host. Migrating the VM to a different host with another guest OS may prevent the error from appearing.
