Issue/Introduction

Upgrading SDDC Manager from 4.4 to 4.5 fails with error "Failed to retrieve silenced health checks. Http failure response for https://SDDC_Manager_FQDN?status=DISABLED:404 Not Found"

When upgrading from VCF 4.X instances to VCF 4.5, the upgrade fails with the following logging:

/var/log/vmware/vcf/lcm/thirdparty/upgrades/b89####-0c1c-4b14-b0##-1db8ca29####/vcf-platform/upgrade/vcf_platform_upgrade.log

pywbem 0.15.0 requires PyYAML>=5.1, but you have pyyaml 3.13 which is incompatible.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5

Cause

If the root or VCF account passwords are configured to never expire, the SDDC Manager upgrade process will change the expiration policy to 365 days. As a result, if these passwords were last set more than 365 days ago, they will expire immediately, leading to a failure in the RPM installation due to the expired credentials.

Resolution

Log in to the SDDC Manager using your current VCF and root account credentials.

Reset the VCF and root passwords using the following commands:

passwd vcf
passwd root

Return to the SDDC Manager UI and restart the failed upgrade or workflow process.
