Issue/Introduction

Implementing new XCOM for Windows 12.0 installation with DB2 Trusted User Database.
However the incoming transfer on the receiving server fails with the following message.

XCOMN0287E Error setting remote user id

After enabling XTRACE=10 in the xcom.glb file and restarting the xcomd server a new transfer creates a *.TRA trace file in the TRACE_PATH location (parameter set in xcom.glb file).
That shows a successful SQL select statement from the Trusted Database to get the password for the incoming USERID and then the Login failure:
*****

ntsuid    121: NT_suid: Entering NT_suid
ntsuid    128: NT_suid: Calling LogonUser(VALUE1,VALUE2,...)
ntsuid    142: NT_suid: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
security  937: Login failed
...
fsmachin 3545: XCOMN0287E Error setting remote user id

*****

NOTE: It has been checked that the password entered in the Trusted User Database using GUI "Trusted Transfer > Manage Users" does match the Windows password on the receiving server/Windows domain.

Environment

XCOM™ Data Transport® for Windows
XCOM™ Data Transport® for UNIX/Linux

Cause

It was determined that special character '^' in the trusted user's password was causing the problem.

Resolution

After removing the '^' character from the password the login was successful.

Additional Information

NOTE: The problem does not affect normal non-trusted transfers when passwords contain the special character '^'.

October 23, 2025: XCOM Engineering provided new patch LU18522 which resolves the problem.
