Issue/Introduction

  • The following command line to set SNMP configuration will add a dynamicruleset in firewall settings to ESXi.
    esxcli network firewall snmp set --targets=###.###.###.###@162/public

    This settings can be viewed by the following command. 
    esxcli network firewall ruleset rule list | grep -i dynamic 

    Results:
    dynamicruleset                 Outbound   UDP       Dst               162       162         

  • However, this firewall settings cannot be displayed in vSphere Client.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server

VMware ESX

Cause

This issue is due to out-of-sync firewall settings between ESXi and vCenter Server.

Resolution

The following command runs to sync firewall settings between ESXi and vCenter Server.

esxcli network firewall refresh
