Issue/Introduction

What is the intended function of the Details grid? Does it serve purely for display purposes, or does it also influence the criteria used in search and filtering logic? Does adding filters to a dimension under the Details column influence the actual results generated, or does it only affect what is displayed?

Resolution

The Details grid provides additional details returned with the result set generated by an Analyzer view. It does not influence the contents of the result set in the Analyzer unless you choose to apply a filter to a dimension you added to the Details grid.

However, there is a condition under which there could be an implicit filtering effect caused by the logic created by pairing unrelated dimensions together. If you add a dimension to the Details grid that does not have a relationship with the other dimensions you've selected, the intersect between those dimensions is NULL and will thus return no results. Ensure the dimensions you've selected for use in an Analyzer view are naturally related (for example, don't use a Web Activity dimension with DIM Incident measures or sender identifiers).
