NVMe FC Devices not showing up for an ESXi host in vSphere Client

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• One of ESXi host fails to detect NVMe FC Storage devices as seen in vSphere client:
  (ESXi host > Configure > Storage Adapter > Devices)
  
  
• Even FC NVMe adapter fails to show up in 'Storage Adapter' section.
  
  
  
• FC adapter is from Qlogic.

Environment

VMware vSphere 8.x

Cause

NVMe support for Physical FC HBA is disabled in ESXi host.


# [root@ESXi-host:~] esxcfg-module -g qlnativefc
qlnativefc enabled = 1 options = 'ql2xnvmesupport=0' 

Resolution

1. Enable NVMe support on FC adapter using following command:
   
   # esxcli system module parameters set -p ql2xnvmesupport=1 -m qlnativefc
   
   
2. Reboot ESXi host for changes to take effect.
