Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to create a separate network outside of an overlay segment that is the same Network ID, Subnet, and Default Gateway as a network configured to use NSX Overlay segment?   This requirements would be to stand up a VLAN network in parallel to an NSX overlay segment and the VM keeping the same IP address, Subnet, and Default gateway.

Environment

NSX

Resolution

While creating a separate network outside of a NSX overlay segment using the same network is possible, the likelihood of duplicate IP addresses increases.  If a duplicate IP address is introduced on a network, it will severely impact the functionality of the network/s.  In this situation, it is recommended to extend a NSX overlay segment to the physical infra using Edge bridge.
