HCX unextend task fails almost immediately with "Network unextend failed at BEGIN" error

Issue/Introduction

• Network Extension unextend task fails shortly after initiating it with error:
  
  "Network unextend failed at BEGIN
 Configuration received Network Unextend failed at BEGIN"   
  
  
• The following error message "HA group not in valid state" may be seen in Activity Logs:
  
  
• The following error messages observed in /common/logs/admin/app.log:

• The issue may occur after implementing workaround of the following issue:
  HCX Network tasks failing due to high memory usage by the "ndd" process

Resolution

This is a condition that may occur in a VMware HCX environment.

Workaround: 

Use force unextend option to proceed with deletion of network extension.
