Issue/Introduction

The following errors repeated in SDDC UI every day at a specific period of time.

Connectivity-check: Perform connectivity status checks on SDDC components Failed
  • Ping drops will be present when a ping request is initiated from SDDC to Vcenter FQDN as well as IP.

root@SDDC[ /home/vcf ]# ping <Vcenter FQDN>
PING <vcenter fqdn> (<vcenter IP>) 56(84) bytes of data.
AC
--- <Vcenter FQDN> ping statistics -
11 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 10219ms

root@SDDC[ /home/vcf ]# ping <Vcenter IP>
PING <Vcenter IP> (<Vcenter IP>) 56(84) bytes of data.

8 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 7163ms

Environment

VCF 9

Cause

The issue arises when ICMP ping is disabled by the firewall between the vCenter and the SDDC appliance.

 

Resolution

Enable ICMP Ping originating from the firewall.
