Issue/Introduction
A new Custom Investment Type object is created at Administration > Objects
An instance of this is created in the Modern UX
This instance is then financially enabled. Its 'Financial Status' is set to 'Open'
Its 'Status' is then set to 'Inactive'
The application does not prevent this, like it does with instances of the 'Project' object.
Resolution
This is an expected behaviour. There are other investment types where it is not a rule that an instance has to have its 'Financial Status' set to 'Hold' or 'Closed', before changing the status to 'Inactive'
As a workaround, a Business Rule can be defined, that automatically sets the 'Financial Status' to one of these values, when 'Status' changes to 'Inactive'.
