Issue/Introduction

Hypervisor OS fails to boot after installing version 8.0 Update3 on Nutanix NX-G7 Host

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

Installing 8.0.3 on Nutanix hardware is not supported by Nutanix.  

Resolution

• Nutanix does not support installing ESXi 8.0U3. You can only upgrade to ESXi 8.0U3 from an existing ESXi version.
  
  
• You must convert the legacy BIOS-based platforms to UEFI BIOS-based platforms before upgrading to ESXi 8.0U1 or later versions.    
  
  
• Nutanix does not support manually upgrading ESXi hosts to ESXi 8.x and later versions. To upgrade ESXi hosts to ESXi 8.x and later versions, use the one-click upgrade procedure or Life Cycle Manager (LCM). See Upgrading ESXi to 8.x using the vCenter built-in LCM (VUM)  

Additional Information

Verify the current firmware presentation using the following command to ensure the host is operating in UEFI mode: vsish -e get /hardware/firmwareType
