Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) sisevt and sisap modules are not loading.

Cause

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) sisevt and sisap modules are not loading due to noexec flag in the mounted /tmp directory

Resolution

Note on Secure Boot and /tmp Mount Options

When installing on a system with Secure Boot enabled, ensure that the /tmp directory is not mounted with the noexec option.

This is required because:

  • The driver installation process uses self-contained Perl (.pp) scripts.
  • These scripts extract additional files into /tmp and need to be executed during the driver signing process.
  • If /tmp is mounted with noexec, these scripts cannot run, causing the driver signing process to fail.
  • As a result, the driver will not load under Secure Boot.
