Issue/Introduction

While attempting to connect VCF Operations 9.0 from /admin page with the Fleet Management node, the process failed with the error message: “Unexpected error occurred during request.”

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0

Cause

Instead of deploying the VMware Cloud Foundation Operations Fleet Management Appliance, a VCF Operations 9.0 instance was deployed. This caused the failure, as only one instance of VCF Operations can connect with the Fleet Management node.

Resolution

Below is the correct sequence to be followed:

  1. Upgrade Aria Operations 8.18.x to VCF Operations 9.0
  2. Delete the incorrectly deployed VCF Operations 9.0 (Greenfield) instance
  3. Download the correct appliance: VMware Cloud Foundation Operations Fleet Management Appliance VCF-OPS-Lifecycle-Manager-Appliance-9.0.0.0.24695816.ova (1.49 GB) from Broadcom Support
  4. Deploy the VMware Cloud Foundation Operations Fleet Management Appliance
  5. Verify the Fleet Management node is ready in the network (note: Fleet has no UI)
  6. Reboot the VCF 9.0 Operations instance to ensure previous registrations are cleared
  7. Log in to the VCF 9.0 Operations /admin page
  8. Confirm VCF 9.0 Operations status is online from the /admin page
  9. Start the integration with Fleet from the /admin page
  10. Once integration completes, access and use the VCF Operations 9.0 Web UI
