Issue/Introduction

  • Summary page of vCenter Server Management Interface (VAMI) shows Overall Health & Memory in Alert Status with the message: "Appliance is running low on memory. Add more memory to the machine."

Environment

  • vCenter 7.x
  • vCenter 8.x

Cause

Memory usage exceeds 80% for the vCenter Server

Resolution

  1. This alert can be ignored if it is temporary. There are no issues caused by memory usage and the vCenter hardware size matches with vSphere environment.
  2. Check for any other alarms to confirm whether this issue is just temporary and can be ignored.
  3. For hardware requirements of vCenter refer System requirements for the vCenter Appliance
  4. If there are memory-related issues, increase the vCenter memory if the vSphere environment exceeds the current deployment size.
  5. To increase the memory of vCenter refer Change the Memory Configuration
