Though it is normal for VTAM sessions to terminate with code u0522 in a XMS task when a timeout occurs due to exceeding the XMS LONGWAIT parameter, the session ends without generating an SVC dump, as each session runs with a recovery routine that prevents a SVC dump from being triggered.
However, there are times when a u0522 will occur with a dump, having been triggered by one of the IBM VTAM modules.
When the dump occurs, the XMS task will not end the session correctly.
PTF LU16936 will prevent issues like this.
If the PTF is not on the View/Deliver environment, it is strongly suggested that it be applied.
