Issue/Introduction

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

  • Multiple VMs sharing the same disk with the Multi-Writer Flag enabled will not be allowed to power on when residing on the same host.  This is by design to prevent reservation conflicts on the disk. 

Resolution

Migrate the VM to another host where the VM part of Oracle RAC Cluster (sharing the rdm disk in physical mode with multi-writer  tag) is not running
