Policy Manager Indicating Gateway Has Malformed License And Gateway Is Non Functional

Issue/Introduction

As of September 25th 2025 some very older versions of the gateway which are no longer supported and have reached end of service such as 8.0 - 8.4 and 9.0 for example may show the following kinds of errors within policy manager:

 

 

 

 

 

The API Gateway will not fully start and is inoperable.

 

Please note that CA API Gateway versions 9.2 and later will not experience this situation.  So gateway versions 9.2+, 10.x and 11.x will not encounter this scenario.

Environment

CA API Gateway 8.0-8.4 , 9.0

Cause

The internal gateway certificate which is used to sign the gateway license had expired on September 25th 2025.

Resolution

We suppressed the expiration date check on the signing certificate of the licenses that way all existing gateway licenses will still work.

Please upgrade to a currently supported gateway version so that you will not encounter this situation.

If you are unable to upgrade then please contact the Broadcom API support team to see if you can be provided a hotfix to address this scenario.
