A replication error occurred after vSphere Replication was reverted to the previous version.

Issue/Introduction

Due to an upgrade failure vSphere Replication was restored to previous version and all Virtual Machines reported below error:

A replication error occurred at the vSphere Replication Server for replication 'VM-NAME'. Details: 'Error for (groupId: "GID-####94f9-####-4f28-####-2399bf49####"): Database object not found; HBR root directory on datastore '####4e31-b0e93a65-####-04320157####' does not exist or is not a directory, path: /vmfs/volumes/6837####-b0e9####-####-04320157####/.hbrroot_##########; While opening mappingDb '/vmfs/volumes/6837####-b0e9####-####-04320157####/.hbrroot_##########/mapping.db'; While performing GetMapping.; Code set to: No such group; While performing LoadGroupFromDatastore'.

Resolution

Remove the Virtual Machines from replication and re-add using seeds to re-replicate.
