Issue/Introduction

When you attempt to apply a support pack (e.g., Support Pack 5 or 6) to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle, the update process fails.

The logs indicate that a required file is missing, specifically referencing the following path: /var/lib/vrlcm/final/lcmagent/jre-win64.zip

Cause

The jre-win64.zip file is missing or corrupted on the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance. This file is an essential component for the support pack installation, and its absence prevents the update from completing successfully.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, restore the missing jre-win64.zip file from a healthy VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance by following these steps:

  1. On a healthy VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance, log in via SSH and navigate to the directory:

    cd /var/lib/vrlcm/final/lcmagent/
    
  2. Generate a SHA256 checksum of the file to verify its integrity after the transfer.

    sha256sum jre-win64.zip
    

    Example output: a1b2c3d4e5f6... jre-win64.zip Note: Save this checksum value for comparison.

  3. Use a secure copy tool (e.g., SCP) to transfer the jre-win64.zip file from the healthy appliance to the problematic appliance.

  4. On the problematic appliance, place the copied file into the correct directory: /var/lib/vrlcm/final/lcmagent/.

  5. Navigate to that directory and verify the integrity of the newly copied file by generating its checksum.

    cd /var/lib/vrlcm/final/lcmagent/
    sha256sum jre-win64.zip
    
  6. Compare the new checksum with the one saved from the healthy appliance. The values must match.

  7. Retry the support pack update process in the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle UI.
