Issue/Introduction

NSX reporting an Alarm: "The number of objects defined in the system for vSphere Clusters Prepared for NSX has reached 6 which is above the maximum supported count of 5."

Cause

The alarm is produced when the system starts running out of resources associated with the number of ESXi hosts and clusters that are configured to be Transport Nodes within NSX.

Typically the CPU and Memory are below the recommended levels as per our documentation.

Resolution

Increase the size of the NSX Manager Node to support the number of vSphere Clusters Prepared for NSX and Hypervisor Hosts per NSX Management Cluster recommended by the Configuration Maximum page for the version of NSX you are working with.

Reference: Resize an NSX Manager Node

Once the NSX Manager appliances are resized confirm the alarm clears.

Additional Information

In NSX versions 3.1.3 and earlier, up to 128 vSphere clusters could be prepared for NSX. Starting with version 3.2.0, the maximum number of vSphere clusters that can be prepared for NSX varies based on the appliance size.

To verify the exact limits applicable to your environment and version, please refer to the VMware Configuration Maximums
