VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service

Issue/Introduction

A content library is required to provision clusters using the vSphere Kubernetes Service on a Supervisor. After initial configuration of the content library used with VKS you can later edit or delete the content library as well as add additional content libraries.

When you make changes to your content library, keep in mind the following:

  • The content library you use for
    VKS
clusters is not scoped to individual
vSphere Namespaces. The same content library is used for all vSphere Namespaces in a Supervisor instance. For this reason, changing the content library is only allowed at the Supervisor level.

  • The content library referenced in the VM Service tile can be used only with standalone VMs. Do not add the
    VKS
content library to the VM Service tile.

  • If a content library associated with VKS is deleted from
    vCenter,
    the library remains linked to
    VKS. It is mandatory to
remove this library from VKS to proceed with any operations. If you try to add or remove any other content library, you see an error message prompting you to unlink the library that was deleted from vCenter.

    Environment

    VKS Version 3.3 or later
    vSphere 9.0

    Resolution

    1. Log in to the
    vCenter
    using the
    vSphere Client
    .

    2. Select
    Supervisor Management
     > Supervisors
    , and select the
    Supervisor
    instance.

    3. Select

     > General
    .

    4. Under
     Kubernetes Service
you may choose edit, add, or remove a Content Library following the below steps. The content library you select is used for VKS across all vSphere Namespaces created on the Supervisor.

       A) Add Content Library - To add a content library click Add, then select one or more content libraries that you want to add.

       B) Remove Content Library - To remove one or more content libraries, select the Content Library from the list then click Remove.

       C) Edit Content Library - To edit an existing content library select the
    Content Library
you want to edit, then click Edit
and select a content library you want to edit.
