Edge node in a Failed state

Issue/Introduction

• The Edge transport node status on NSX UI goes into a failed state.
  
  
• Below error message can be observed for the edge:
  
  Host configuration: Caught MessagingException during host config stage. [TN=TransportNode/######-####-####-####-######]. Reason: MessagingException


• The datapath service will be in a failed state and any datapath command would fail with the below error message:
  
  

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

The datapath service failed on edge.

Resolution

Workaround: 

1. Put the NSX Edge node into maintenance mode from cli.
2. Reboot the Edge node.
3. If the status changes for the Edge node, remove it from maintenance mode. 
4. If it does not change the status replace the edge node with below steps.
