VMware vSphere ESXi

Issue/Introduction

After reinstalling ESXi on a host that was previously configured to use LACP on a vDS, network tests from the DCUI fail.

Environment

  • VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

Reinstalling ESXi resets the hosts networking to default, which places vmk0 on a standard switch.  LACP is not supported on standard switches, and the host cannot be added to the vCenter to be added to the LAG on vDS until it regains network connectivity.

Resolution

Configure the physical switchports to use standalone uplinks (no LACP) ,and LACP can be reconfigured once the host is added back to the vCenter.
