How to change device position via API or Modeling Gateway

Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to create a device in a container at a specific location (x, y) in the topology via API? I had no success with the Modeling Gateway. I exported it with the Modeling Gateway, changed the x_coordinate and y_coordinate of the device, and re-imported the XML with the Modeling Gateway. The device remained in the same location.

Resolution

There are no specific x,y attributes within the SSdb file that directly store the location information. All model information is kept in a VibIIB tagged format, which prevents changes to the coordinates within the MGW XML file. When Spectrum decrypts the tagged VibIIB information(Visual Information Block), it automatically places the devices according to the previously saved topology view.
