Issue/Introduction
The Virtual Machines running in the vSAN cluster experience more IO waiting compared to VMs running in the other vSAN cluster.
Environment
vSAN 8.x
ESXi 8.x
Cause
- The power usage of the hosts is on a lower level, causing lower performance
Resolution
1. Confirm the vSAN health status.
2. Scope the affected VM(s): Identify whether it’s one VM or multiple VMs, and whether it’s one host or multiple hosts.
3. Check if the ESXi power management level is set to "Max Performance."

4. Compare the power usage of the host with that of other hosts.
Note: Typically, the power usage should be greater than 300W.
5. Check the power management mode at the hardware level.
Note: A reboot may be required if you change the power management mode.
