Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • The Site Recovery plugin is not visible on vCenter.

  • Environment was previously configured with vSphere Replication and VMware Live Site Recovery, but the vSphere Replication appliance was un-registered as it was not used anymore.

  • A webpage opened in the location vSphere Client > Site Recovery / VMware Live Site Recovery prior to unregistering the vSphere Replication appliance, displays the following error when refreshed:

"Http failure response for https://<vcenter-fqdn>/plugins/com.vmware.drui.plugin-9.0.2.24170200--1384409448/<vr-fqdn>-443/drplugin/requestHandlers/getLocalVcs: 503 OK"

"There are no vCenter Server instances with installed vSphere Replication or Site Recovery Manager"

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

VMware vSphere Replication 9.x

Cause

  • This issue is caused because the vSphere Replication appliance was the one serving the Site Recovery client.

  • So once it's unregistered, the plugin stops working and due to this the Site Recovery page on vCenter is not visible and also the registered Site Recovery Manager is not visible.

  • Prior to un-registering the vSphere Replication appliance, it could be seen that the vSphere Replication appliance was serving the Site Recovery client:

  • VMware Live Site Recovery does not to start serving the Site Recovery Client after the vSphere Replication appliance is unregistered.

  • The reason why the vSphere Replication was serving the Site Recovery client is because it was configured in the environment before the VMware Live Site Recovery.

Resolution

  • To resolve this issue, reconfigure the VMware Live Site Recovery appliance. Reconfigure the VMware Live Site Recovery Appliance.

  • This will push the plugin from the VLSR to the vCenter and the new Site Recovery plugin will be visible. The Site Recovery Client will now be served by the VLSR.
