Issue/Introduction

This article provides a comprehensive guide for the Clarity security team to update database passwords for the Clarity, Data Warehouse (DWH), and Jaspersoft schemas. This procedure is essential for maintaining security compliance and for routine password rotation within the ValueOps environment.

Cause

Clarity 16.3.3 with Jaspersoft 9.0

Resolution

To change the database passwords (Clarity & DWH), here are the steps:

  1. Database Server Password Update
    Work with your Database Administrator (DBA) or consult the relevant database documentation to change the actual database server password for the Clarity and DWH schemas directly on the database.

  2. Stop the APP and BG services from CSA or from the Clarity server directly

  3. Update Clarity Database Password via Clarity
    To update the new password there are two options, via CSA UI or and update via the relevant database tags in properties.xml

    For CSA Login to the CSA URL> Click Home> Servers> Click Properties and then click the Database tab.
    In the Internal Connection: Niku section, complete the following fields:

    Password: Enter the new password.
    Confirm Password: Enter the password again.
    Click Save.

  4. Update Data Warehouse (DWH) Database Password via CSA
    Repeat the same step from the Data warehouse tab

    Password: Enter the new password.
    Confirm Password: Enter the password again.
    Click Save.

  5. Ensure that all database link parameters used in the Clarity Data Warehouse configuration are reviewed and validated for proper connectivity

  6. Start the APP and BG Services

To change the DB password for Jaspersoft Database that is integrated with Clarity

  1. Database Server Password Update
    Work with your Database Administrator (DBA) or consult the relevant database documentation to change the actual database server password for the Clarity and DWH schemas directly on the database.

  2. Update Jaspersoft Configuration:
    Follow KB reference: Change Jaspersoft DB password integrated with Clarity

  3. From the clarity server run the following command for sanity checks
    admin update jasperParameter
