Issue/Introduction

Users frequently inquire about directly accessing the Clarity Data Warehouse (DWH) database with third-party tools to extract data, prioritizing efficient data retrieval and minimal performance impact on Clarity.

Resolution

Direct database access to the Clarity Data Warehouse for external third-party applications is not permitted. However, the following approved methods are available for integrating with and accessing DWH data:

1. Clarity Reporting Workspace (Native Capability via MUX)
   Available from Clarity 16.3.3 onwards. This native feature allows users to leverage default Data Providers or create custom query-based Data Providers to build and consume custom reports directly within the Reporting Workspace.

2. Accessing Data Warehouse Data via OData Endpoints (Third-party)
   
   For Clarity SaaS environments, OData endpoints (v2 or v4) provide a standardized way to access the Data Warehouse schema and data. This enables integration with various external reporting and BI tools, such as Power BI and Excel, by configuring them with the provided OData URL and authentication string.

3. Jaspersoft Studio (Third-Party)
   
   For Clarity SaaS environments, Jaspersoft Studio can be utilized to preview data from Data Warehouse data sources. This requires configuring a Data Adaptor based on the CA JDBC adaptor driver.
