Issue/Introduction

  • Impact assessment required while planning an upgrade from VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5.2.1.0 to 5.2.2.2 and currently uses a shared NSX Manager across workload domains.
  • VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2.2 Release Notes mentions issues with version 5.2 of not being able to share NSX manager across workload domains with same name.

Environment

SDDC Manager 5.X

Cause

If you create an isolated VI workload domain using the same SSO domain name as the management vCenter, the SDDC Manager UI incorrectly associates the isolated domain’s NSX Manager with the management domain. As a result, when you create another isolated VI workload domain, SDDC Manager does not offer the option to share the existing NSX Manager between the isolated domains.

Resolution

Based on the information and the  VCF 5.2.2.2 Release Notes, the issue with shared NSX Managers affects only isolated VI workload domains.

If all workload domains are joined to the same SSO domain as the management domain and are not isolated, the issue does not apply to that environment. For more information: VCF Architecture Models

Currently there is no workaround to the above issue.
