Issue/Introduction

The following log(s) seen in ESXi /var/run/log/vmkernel.log:

NvmeDiscover: XXXX: Failed to get valid NS handle from controller nqn.xxxx-xx.com.xxxxx:nvme:nvm-subsystem-sn-XXXXXXXXXXX with status Invalid or missing namespace

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

The log snippet is saying that the namespace of NVMe device was failed to get during reboot. And this is expected behavior.

Resolution

Run "esxcli nvme namespace list" command to list all the NVMe namespaces available on ESXi. If these are all the namespaces required by the host, you can safely ignore the log.
