Issue/Introduction

• When attempting to update an ESXi host from version 7.0 u3x to 8.0 u3g using the cluster image upgrade process in vLCM, remediation fails with the following error:

Environment

• VMware ESXi 7.x

Cause

VMware_bootbank_esx-ui_2.18.0-23593406 VIB checksum has become corrupted on the ESXi host, which is preventing imaged based remediation.

Resolution

Update the host using the command line method described in the KB Patching ESXi host using Command Line. The esx-ui vib checksum mismatch will be resolved by the manual upgrade process.
