Logical core is not assigned to VM's vNIC when interface is not up within GuestOS

Issue/Introduction

  • There is no logical core assigned to one or more vNIC of a virtual machine when check with command "nsxdp-cli ens port list" in ESXi, i.e., only part of the VM's vNIC shown with logical core assignment
  • The MAC address of problematic vNIC are shown as 0 when check with command "net-stats -l" in ESXi
  • From vCenter GUI, all vNIC are connected and no error/warning reported

 

Environment

VMware vSphere 8

Cause

The problematic interfaces within GuestOS are not up, for instance, when check with command "ifconfig" then these problematic interfaces are not visible

Resolution

Please bring up these interfaces within GuestOS
