When deploying a cloud proxy, the the following error is received:
Failed to decode OTK: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0x9e in position 0: invalid start byte. CPRC will not be properly configured.
Aria Operations 8.14 and later.
When deploying an Aria Operations Cloud Proxy from the OVF template, the Domain Name option was not filled out with the VM's Shortname or FQDN.
The OVF template wants the VM's Domain Name to be the VM's FQDN. Not the name of the Domain the VM is apart of.
Clean up the failed deployment following these steps:
Power off the failed VM: Locate the failed cloud proxy Virtual Machine in the vCenter inventory and power it off.
Delete the deployment: Right-click the powered-off VM and select Delete from Disk to completely remove the failed instance from the environment.
Redeploy the proxy: Initiate a fresh deployment of the cloud proxy VM following the previous steps taken to start the deployment.
Configure the Domain Name: During the new configuration process, set the Domain Name to match either the VM's shortname or its Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).
Delete the failed deployment by powering off the failed cloud proxy VM and in vCenter, Delete from disk. Redeploy and configure the DNS name to be either the VM's shortname or the FQDN of the VM.
