API Connection to vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) Offline Depot error "Failure, Authentication failed, not a valid user"

Issue/Introduction

When using vSphere Automation APIs to connect to a Lifecycle Manager offline depot, the following failure is reported:

 

Failure, Authentication failed, not a valid user.

 

Environment

• vSphere Lifecycle Manager 9.x

• VMware vCenter Server 9.x

Cause

If the passed session ticket is not valid, either because of an incorrect ticket string or expired ticket (older than 30s), an error is returned with the message of "Failure, Authentication failed, not a valid user".

Resolution

Create a new vCenter user session ticket and use the subsequent session ID returned in the header in following calls to the API.
