TPX - Session Management

Issue/Introduction

Is there a TPX command that can identify how many users are 'connected' to TPX.

Environment

Release: 5.4

Component: TPX for Z/OS

Resolution

Go to TPXOPER and issue the command 'd u' to display users. This will list all the active/inactive users that are still sitting on with some active downstream application.

The command output will also display the ‘Max User Limit’, here is an explanation of that field:
Maximum Users - Specifies the maximum number of users who can be signed on to TPX at one time. When the specified number of users are signed on concurrently, TPX will not let another user sign on until someone signs off.  If you don't want to limit the number of concurrent users, specify 0 .

        Valid values: 0 - 99999

That limit may be set up in the SMRT:

  • Go to TPXADMIN
  • Select option 2 TPX System Options
  • Select option 1 System Options (SMRT)
  • Select the SMRT you want to update
  • Select option 1 Performance Parameters
  • Go to 'Maximum TPX Users:'
  • If any change was made to that field, reload the SMRT in TPXOPER by using the command "reload SMRT=smrtname"
