Error Creating Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Cluster After Upgrading to CSE Plugin 4.2.2

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to create a new VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) cluster after upgrading to Cloud Director Container Service Extension (CSE) plugin 4.2.2, the operation fails. This occurs if the environment is still using TKG version 1.5.4, which is not supported with the newer plugin.

Environment

• VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x
• VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension (CSE) 4.2.2
• VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) 1.5.4 or Lower

Cause

The issue arises because TKG version 1.5.4 is incompatible with CSE plugin 4.2.2.

Resolution

Upgrade all existing Tanzu Kubernetes Grid clusters to one of the supported versions:

• 2.1.1

• 2.2

• 2.3.1

• 2.4
