Issue/Introduction

While creating a snapshot, the snapshot failed to save and the VM powered off and failing to power on as the disk is not showing. 

Error message shows: 

Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/######-######-######-######/<VM folder>/<VM name>.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. 5 (Input/output error) No connection for heartbeat at xxxx on volume '<Datastore name>'.

Environment

vSphere 8.0.x

Cause

There was connection issue from the VM located HOST to  volume '<Datastore name>'.

Resolution

1. Unregister the VM from current host.

2. Register the VM to another host which is working fine.
