Issue/Introduction

data_engine message queues flip-flopping or increasing and decreasing quickly the number of randomly queued messages and not in any logical sequence, e.g., randomly changing from a few thousand to tens of thousands of messages queued or sent.

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4 CU3
  • data_engine

Cause

  • loglevel setting

Resolution

The UIM data_engine 23.4.3 loglevel was set to 5. In the past, sometimes we have found that when the loglevel is t to 5, that the QOS messages could be caching in memory (buffered). Therefore, we set the loglevel to 1 via raw configuration and clicked ok. Once the data_engine restarted, the message queue processing normalized/returned to a sequential processing of messages instead of oscillating wildly e.g., a few thousand to tens of thousands of messages queued or sent instead of the queued messages hovering within predictable values and oscillating wildly.
