Carbon Black App Control

Issue/Introduction

The cached views in the App Control console fail to update after upgrading past 8.10.4 Server. The following error is found in the App Control Reporter.log file:

Database task SQL exception: CacheEventReports - Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.

Environment

  • App Control Server: Version 8.11.0
  • Microsoft Windows OS: All Supported Versions

Cause

The SQL stored procedure to cache events (dbo.CacheEventReports) fails with a message like:

Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.

Resolution

EPCB-23163 was created to resolve this issue and the permanent fix is included in the App Control Server Version 8.11.2, so customers should consider upgrading their server version.

Additional Information

If upgrade to 8.11.2 is not permitted, then a hotfix can be applied to 8.11.0 version to implement the fix for this issue. The hotfix script is attached to this KB below.

  1. On the App Control Server, stop the App Control Services
  2. Validate there is a recent backup of the DAS database in SQL.
  3. In SQL Server Management Studio, open the 8.11.0_cachedeventreports_hotfix.sql in a New Query window and Execute.
  4. Start the App Control Services
