VMware SDDC Manager

Issue/Introduction

When deploying new hosts to a cluster using SDDC manager you discover that the existing hosts have more vmkernel adapters than the new hosts.

Environment

VCF

Cause

This happens either because the network pool associated with the cluster doesn't have all the necessary network types and IP ranges defined, or the vmkernel adapter type is not in the list of supported adapters.

Currently SDDC can only deploy VMK adapters for network types of vSAN, vMotion, NFS, and iSCSI. All other vmk adapter network types are unsupported for deployment through SDDC.

Resolution

Edit your network pool to include the necessary network types if available. If it is a different network type needed, such as replication, you will need to either manually create them or script the operation post-deployment with a tool like PowerShell.
