Issue/Introduction

  • During a Host Profile compliance check on an ESXi host from the vCenter Server UI, the host status is reported as Not Compliant.

  • The compliance details indicate that the Core Storage Configuration Category is failing. The reported mismatch shows that the storage configuration on the host differs from the values defined in the Host Profile for one or more devices.

  • On vCenter UI >  Select ESXi > Configure > Host Profile > Compliance Status is Not Compliant.

Environment

VMware vSphere vCenter 7.x

VMware vSphere vCenter 8.x

Cause

This issue occurs when a host profile is applied to a host different from the one it was originally extracted from. After applying the profile, the Pluggable Storage Architecture (PSA) Profile sub-profile of the storage host profile reports non-compliance for one or more storage devices.

Resolution

To resolve this issue we need to Edit the Host Profile by following below steps:

  1. From the MenuPolicies and ProfilesHost Profiles.

  2. Select the profile that is failing → ActionsEdit Settings.

  3. Expand Storage ConfigurationPluggable Storage Architecture (PSA) Profile.

  4. Remove or adjust entries that don’t match the target host.

  5. Perform Check-compliance against the ESXi.
