vCenter Welcome web page shows in an incorrect language

Issue/Introduction

End user browses the vCenter welcome page in traditional Chinese locale, but the welcome page is shown in English.

Environment

vCenter 8.0.x

Cause

Under /etc/vmware-vpx/docRoot/ , there are some sub-folders for each locales.

en/ is for English, and  zh_TW is for traditional Chinese.

In each of these sub folders, there is a welcomeRes.js file.

 

For some reasons, the welcomeRes.js file under zh_TW folder has been overwritten by the file under en/ folder.

Resolution

Find a good vCenter, download the file /etc/vmware-vpx/docRoot/zh_TW/welcomeRes.js,

then upload this file to the problematic vCenter, replace the file /etc/vmware-vpx/docRoot/zh_TW/welcomeRes.js,

refresh vCenter welcome web page, now it is shown in correct language.
