Issue/Introduction

  • Running Pre-Upgrade Readiness Assessment Tool or the actual upgrade process from 8.18.3 to 8.18.4 gets stuck at step 6 of 14 with no error messages provided.
  • Step.6. indicates  pre-check validation errors, commonly  including: Password expiry for key accounts (root, admin, postgres), Hostname configuration mismatches and Issues with SSL certificates.
  • There is a mismatch when comparing the output of 'hostname' from SSH and the value of 'Node Address' from Aria Operations admin portal. For ex:

    Output of hostname command:

    root@node-name [ ~ ]# hostname
    < aria.example.com >

Node address from Aria Operations admin portal 'https://AriaOperations_hostname/admin':

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18

Cause

This issue arises specifically when one or more Aria Operations node hostnames are modified, but these changes are not accurately reflected in the respective configuration files

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the following actions:

  1. Take snapshot following the procedure provided here - Snapshot Creation in VMware Aria Operations
  2. Change the hostname following the instructions provided here - How to change a node hostname in Aria Operations .
  3.  Once hostname is modified, ensure the output of command 'hostname' matches with the values of 'Node Address' listed Aria Operations admin portal and re-run the upgrade workflow.
